(one of) my new favourite book(s)
i have many, many favourite books
and this one has just been added to that (not so select) list

it made me feel so simultaneously hopeful and hopeless. but after reading it, i was the happiest i have been for a long time.
it is one of those books which, after finishing, you don't feel quite ready to pick up another one... not yet, anyhow. you need some time to get over the beauty, sadness and spirit-lifting characters and the want/need that they should be real people.
it's not a rare thing for a book to make me cry. but it is rare that i should be crying over a character that never actually meets the protagonist or the reader for that matter.
it's a rare thing to know that every book i read will be compared to this.
(i have also added "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" to my list over the past 4 days)
