this book

has to be one of the best books i have ever read:
Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day - Winnifred Watson
truly, truly fantastic, with no real drama and no worry that things aren't going to turn out ok; just the thing i needed to cheer me up, with my best friend away for aaages.

please read it

and it's apparently now a film too, although i've never seen it or even seen it advertised. i have to see it

a blight on our society,

is on television right now

a girl on jeremy kyle (who looks about 15) is just telling the world about how she cheated 3 times; tells her fiance that she's on the pill, but actually flushes it down the toilet; and now worries that he'll cheat on her.

why, oh why, am i watching this programme?

because i am addicted, that's why.

what a day

i had:
a fantastic start to my day when i woke up to sophie's radio in her bedroom at some hideous hour of the morning.
an extremely unsatisfying middle of the day when we couldn't buy a cheesecake like we wanted (these things are sent to try us, i know)
and then the dentist, thrilling as usual

now i'm watching The Holiday with my mum and sister
